ROYAL SELANGOR BANGUNAN SULTAN ABDUL SAMAD
Project type
Gallery, Retail & Cafe
The Royal Selangor Gallery, opened alongside the restoration of the Sultan Abdul Samad Building under Khazanah Nasional’s Warisan KL initiative, spans over 8,000 square feet of curated exhibits. It showcases pewter craftsmanship from the 1800s to the present day, while a chic top-floor café offers panoramic views of Kuala Lumpur’s historic precinct. At its heart, the gallery honours the memory of pioneers, miners, workers, and founder Yong Koon, positioning itself as a silent witness to Malaysia’s tin legacy.
Beyond its displays, the venue enriches the visitor experience with a pewtersmithing workshop, a retail destination blending heritage and modern collections, and an underground tunnel designed as a symbolic passage through time, seamlessly connecting past and present.
